We looked at the 20 Chinese takeaways and restaurants with a public Google rating and a SE13, SE4, SE12 or SE3 address (checked 4 October 2026). Every figure below is counted from those listings. Nothing is estimated.
What kinds of place are they?
Google files each listing under a category. The most common:
- Chinese Takeaway: 14
- Chinese restaurant: 4
- Supermarket: 1
- Asian Grocery Shop: 1
How well are they rated?
The middle (median) rating is 3.8 stars. By band:
- 4.5 or higher: 3
- 4.0 to 4.4: 6
- 3.5 to 3.9: 9
- below 3.5: 2
How many reviews?
Between them they have 2,531 Google reviews. The most reviewed is Spring Way with 287 (rated 4.2). The median is 102 reviews per listing, and 3 have fewer than 50, which is too few to say much about.
Food hygiene
We could match 16 of them to the Food Standards Agency register. 7 of those hold the top rating of 5, and 1 hold a 2 or lower. Hygiene ratings are the council inspector's, not Google's, and can be out of date.
